The brand new trailer for Ghostbusters 3: Afterlife has just arrived on YouTube and it is amazing!

In a world of constant reboots and disappointing, unwanted sequels finally it looks like we are actually getting a good reboot.

Obviously this is just a two and a half minute look at the latest instalment but i have to admit it i am extremely excited.

It pays homage to the original two films by talking about the Ghostbusters as revered heroes and completely wipes out the abomination of the last reboot by saying there has been no ghost sightings for 30 years.

It hits all the right nostalgia beats, hints at a kind of Goonies meets Stranger Things, children coming of age adventure that could actually fit well in the franchise.

It is a bit on the nose with it’s heavy hinting that the four children in the film are the grandchildren of the original Ghostbusters but i am fine with that.

It looks like it is going to be a brand new Ghostbusters for the children of today whilst having a few well placed nostalgic nods to keep us old folk happy.

Just in the trailer alone we have Ecto one, Slimer, The original uniforms and the gatekeeper hounds of Zuul. Enough for any excited geek dad to sit down with his son and discover a franchise together.

Ecto 1 - Ghostbusters

I have absolutley no problem with Ghostbusters been made for a new younger audience that doesn’t involve me. That is the way it should be. Bring something new, exciting and relevant for todays younger generation to fall in love with whilst honouring the franchise origins and those who made it great.

If we are being completely honest Ghostbusters wouldn’t fair well with today’s audiences. Venkmans behaviour towards women alone raises so many problems. So an updated, modern team coming together in a passing of the torch, family inheritance/legacy story is just fine by me.

I was dubious about a new Ghostbusters movie but after seeing this trailer I can’t wait to book my ticket.
