Long awaited sequel to the cult classic Shenmue series, Shenmue 3 is finally coming next year on 27th of August 2019 for the PS4 and PC. Publishers Deep Silver and developers YS Net have today made the announcement at Gamescom 2018, Europe’s annual gaming trade show in Cologne, Germany. Shenmue 3 continues the epic saga of the first two games where hero Ryo Hazuki searches for his father’s murderer.
Players must explore the open world of 1980s Japan and China, talking to NPCs and searching for clues to lead him to his father’s killer. The original two Shenmue games also released today on PS4, Xbox One and PC with remastered graphics, sound and controller options to make it more accessible on modern systems. The games feature a sweeping narrative with strong story telling, a stunning orchestral score and martial arts combat based off of the Virtua Fighter games with RPG open world mechanics. The games feature a realistic passage of time where players can go to work to earn money and spend their evenings in the arcades playing classic Sega games like Space Harrier and Outrun. The upcoming sequel will no doubt continue this same style of gameplay.
