Dontnod’s third person action adventure game Vampyr launches in a month’s time on Tuesday 5 June 2018 on PS4, Xbox One & PC.  Today they have released a new trailer for the game featuring a lot of gameplay and specifically a good look at the game’s combat.

As the name suggests, Vampyr is about vampirism sweeping London and main protagonist and player character Dr Jonathan Reid is a vampire and sets out to cure the city from the plague but must also satiate his own blood-lust.  Players must choose who to kill and who to save where killing people and sucking out their blood grants ability points where players can improve Dr Reids’ combat abilities.  It’s certainly an interesting setup and I am looking forward to seeing the full game when it is released next month.

Dontnod are the developers behind the critically and commercially acclaimed Life Is Strange series as well as the criminally overlooked Remember Me.  One thing these previous games share in common is a compelling narrative and Remember Me had very good third person action and great time control puzzle solving so it will be interesting to see what they do with a game about vampires.    The trailer certainly looks promising so here’s to hoping the full game turns out well and doesn’t get overshadowed by all the glitz and glamour of E3 2018 next month.
