Review By Leemo
Have you ever played pubg and thought to yourself what this game need is a house building element as well? I think we all know the answer to that one.
My initial thoughts of this game whilst installing it was something like; “this will be yet another battle royal style game with little to no differences to previous well-known titles.”.
But lordy lord was I wrong, Vigor is awesome fun. I’ve played a lot of battle royal games and whilst I’m far from good I still enjoy them for a little while, then I get bored and look at my phone for a few hours. However, Vigor has a particular charm.
The kind of charm that makes you want to keep going and when its 3 am and you have work in 5 hours you’ll be saying “just one more game”. Which as we all know means “I’m not going to sleep tonight”.

It’s not often you get a free to play a game that is actually good and most importantly not a pay to win cash grab. From the well known and well-established developer “Bohemia” comes the exclusive to Xbox title Vigor.
Onto the game then, what is Vigor? Vigor is set in post-apocalyptic Norway where your objective is to scavenge resources to build your very own personal shelter whilst doing that there will be up to 11 other people doing the exact same thing and just like battle royal it’s a free for all.
Whilst exploring the map looking for the precious commodities you’ll need to upgrade your new-found house, you will often find yourself in a shoot out with another player.
Should you have luck on your side and win the fight you’ll get your pick of his or her loot. If you die however you’ll lose everything and go back home with nout.. that hurts… A lot.

There are a few ways in which to play the game one is to scavenge and hide then run to the next place and scavenge again. The next is to go into the world and brazenly walk into known kill boxes and muscle your way through.
The last and my personal favorite (hate me if you will) is to find two players shooting it out, wait for one to die then kill the other one whilst he’s looting his prey. Whatever your play style is, so long as you get out with your supplies, that’s all that matters.
When you do get back to your homely abode you’ll have the ability to upgrade your base with new and wonderful things. Every upgrade serves a purpose that will be vital to your future survival. I won’t spoil it for you so you’ll just have to take my word on it, I will say though that upgrading as much and as often as possible will make your life ‘soooooo’ much easier.
Good news/Bad news?! There are microtransactions using the in-game premium currency (Crowns). But fret not young survivor when someone in the lobby uses a booster to increase the odds of finding better loot everyone else in the lobby also receives the boost.

What does this mean for you? It means get out there and play it! Vigor is great fun its deep rich atmosphere will pull you in, making you want to keep going and keep upgrading.
Finding amazing weapons in which to devastate your foes or using simple basic weapons to humiliate them will make you want to come back for more.
Remember though each encounter is different no two enemies are the same so treat every possible person as a threat to your life, be tactical, be stealthy or be loud and proud. Whatever you choose Survive!
Vigor is exclusive to Xbox one (at the moment) and it’s free to play.

Score wise I’m giving it a solid 8.5/10
farewell survivor and may the odds be ever in your favour.
